A city of peace, with Miyajima close by
A city rebuilt around the Peace Memorial Park at the hypocentre, and the gateway to Miyajima, where the Itsukushima Shrine torii stands in the water. Hiroshima is a place to take time over: the museum is sobering, the city is calm and welcoming, and the local food, especially okonomiyaki, is excellent.
Getting around. The streetcar network is the simplest way around. The Peace Memorial Park is a short ride from Hiroshima Station. Miyajima is about 45 minutes away by train and ferry.
