India’s best-known ski resort, and a high gondola
A mountain meadow at about 2,650 m, and India’s best-known ski resort. The Gulmarg Gondola climbs in two stages to nearly 4,000 m, among the highest cable cars in the world, with views of the Himalaya and Nanga Parbat on a clear day. In summer the meadows are green and covered with flowers.
Getting around. The resort is small. The gondola runs in two stages from the village, and ponies and sleds go to the meadows. Book gondola tickets ahead in winter.
