Sunrise over Kanchenjunga, and old monasteries
A quiet ridge town in West Sikkim with some of the best views of Kanchenjunga, at 8,586 m the third-highest mountain in the world. Pemayangtse Monastery, the Pelling Skywalk and Khecheopalri Lake are all nearby. Plan to wake early: clouds often hide the peaks by mid-morning.
Getting around. The town is small and spread along a ridge. Taxis go to Pemayangtse Monastery, the skywalk and Khecheopalri Lake. Start early for the sunrise.
