Your expert’s note

The full loop is 7.4 km (Grade 4, about 4 hours) with two lookouts en route - Karu at 1 hour return and the more demanding Karingana at 2.5 hours return. Parks Australia closes the track beyond Karu Lookout from 11am whenever the forecast or actual temperature reaches 36 degrees Celsius or higher, so aim to start at first light in the warmer months.
