Your expert’s note

The free ranger-guided Mala Walk (about 1.5 hours, departing daily from the Mala carpark) is the best introduction to Anangu stories at the base of the rock. The full base walk circuit is 10.6 km and takes about 3.5 hours, and dedicated sunrise and sunset viewing areas are signposted near the park entry stations; some base walk sections close in early afternoon during summer heat, so start early.
